Korean Baseball Heats Up for Premier12...'Ryu Jung-il Ho' to Train for First Time on Thursday

South Korea's baseball team is warming up for the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12.

The team, led by head coach Ryu Jung-il, will hold its first training session tomorrow afternoon (April 24) at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The roster is 35 players, but 11 players from KIA (7) and Samsung (4) will join the squad after the Korean Series.

LG left-handed pitcher Son Joo-young is also effectively ruled out of the Premier12 with a sore left elbow, meaning that fewer than 24 players will gather for the first training session. The final Premier12 roster will be 28 players.

The Premier12 call-up roster includes a number of young players, including Kia's Kim Do-young and Jung Hae-young, Doosan's Kim Taek-yeon and Kwak Bin, KT's Park Young-hyun, 파워볼사이트 and Samsung's Kim Young-woong and Won Tae-in.

Ryu, his coaching staff, and the KBO's Power Enhancement Committee will focus on the players during the training camp to finalize the 28-player roster.

The Premier12 is an international tournament featuring the top 12 nations in the WBSC rankings, and while Group A, which includes the United States, Mexico and Venezuela, will kick off on Nov. 10 in Mexico, Korea is in Group B and will play in Taiwan on Nov. 13.

The team will face Taiwan on Nov. 13, Cuba on Nov. 14, Japan on Nov. 15, the Dominican Republic on Nov. 16, and Australia on Nov. 18. The top four teams in Group A and B will advance to the Super Round, where they will play for the championship on Nov. 21 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

The team will train at the Gocheok Dome until November 7, including two exhibition games against Cuba on November 1 and 2, before departing for Taiwan on November 8.
